Extraordinary Power Features

EnterpriseTenFold SOA lets a small team of mostly non-technical business people build and enhance high-quality, powerful applications significantly faster than with any other technology. Other applications development technologies, both old and new, let you build and enhance applications, but provide little or no built-in business functionality. By forcing a development team to design and program all functionality, traditional tools limit the functional richness (power) that a development team can practically afford to build. Consequently, applications typically have only minimum-required functional capability (power) to conserve budget and shorten implementation timeframes.

Since EnterpriseTenFold SOA renders an application from its description, there is no programming to build or enhance a TenFold-powered application. Interestingly, complex requirements, which typically make projects difficult and risky, add little incremental cost to TenFold-powered applications development.

TenFold provides extraordinary power features because the code that executes when you run your application is the code we deliver to you before you start building your application. Essentially, every TenFold customer runs the identical code base in production.

Consequently, we engineered power features into EnterpriseTenFold SOA for you and every TenFold-powered application can use and inherits those power features automatically.

Of course, a valid question is what do we mean by power features. Here are examples of the thousands of automatically available applications features. As you browse through these feature examples, consider whether your production applications have these features and how much it cost (or would cost) your organization to design and program them. Remember, each of these features is built into EnterpriseTenFold SOA and available to any TenFold-powered application with a few mouse-clicks.

Actual Time Relation	Actual TimeRelation is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that creates a TimeSlice to track each change to your database so you can turn back the clock to see your database as it was at a specific date and time in the past. You can use Actual TimeRelation to look interactively at database history, recreate documents, meet statutory data retention requirements, and understand how your data changes as it moves from creation through obsolescence.
AuditTrail	AuditTrail is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that lets you track all or some applications database changes merely by turning on AuditTrail. AuditTrail includes a transaction that lets you see who changed what and when.
AutoRefresh	AutoRefresh is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that lets you request automatic data-value updates to reflect data changes for applications that need real-time, data-change notification. For example, traders who lend securities need current inventory status. Therefore, when a trader completes a trade, InventoryBlotter transactions on other trader workstations automatically show adjusted, current inventory levels.
Context Sensitivity	ContextSensitivity is a family of EnterpriseTenFold SOA power features which offer transaction attributes that change visual behavior as the result of different field values in the transaction.
Excel-It	Excel-It is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that lets you integrate Microsoft Excel™ spreadsheets into your TenFold application. Excel-It has a simple-to-use, but very powerful, LoadExcelData feature that lets your TenFold-powered application use Excel's powerful presentation and data manipulation capabilities on any of its data. Excel-It also has another simple-to-use, but very powerful CopyExcelData feature that automatically enters spreadsheet data into any TenFold transaction to save you typing and take advantage of spreadsheet data.
First Transaction	FirstTransaction is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that lets you specify for any responsibility one or more transactions that automatically display when you first login to the application.
FormReports	FormReports is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that lets you print text onto pre-printed forms as report output.
GraphicField	GraphicField is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that lets you display and store a graphic image as transaction field data.
LiveData	LiveData is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that lets you read and store documents and other types of files in transaction fields. Your transaction uses your favorite desktop applications for creating, editing and viewing these documents and files.
NavigateOn Demand	NavigateOnDemand is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that avoids extra processing and memory use by gathering and storing only data and attributes for views that the end-user explores as end-users most often explore only some of a transaction's views.
QueryByExample	QueryByExample is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that lets the end user query a specific set of records that meet their specification. The query may include constants, wild-card characters and even conditional comparisons.
Password Policies	PasswordPolicies is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that lets your administrators control valid password definitions (like minimum length, character mix, et cetera), how long each password is valid, and rules for capturing possible break-in attempts for later reporting and analysis.
Power Accounting	PowerAccounting is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that automatically creates journal entry lines that record the accounting impact of your applications transactions. PowerAccounting eliminates the need to enter accounting codes or other accounting-related data as you enter transactions, instead, creating journal-entry lines whenever it is appropriate to do so.
Power Calendars	PowerCalendars is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that lets end-users precisely define and maintain a calendar of valid and invalid time periods for scheduling events, such as when to run your monthly billing cycle.
PowerWorkflow	PowerWorkflow is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that determines state and detects state transitions within your business processes, then automatically does actions and optimally assigns tasks to your staff. PowerWorkflow manages staff workload and analyzes performance so you can streamline your business processes for maximum efficiency.
RequiredFor Query	RequiredForQuery is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that visibly highlights required fields during a query. Applications developers use RequiredForQuery to ensure that end-users do not inadvertently misuse QueryByExample and degrade performance by scanning a large database table or tables.
SecurityByValue	SecurityByValue is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that prevents unauthorized reading or updating of applications data, depending on the individual using the application and applications data values. Traditional applications security prevents unauthorized access to an application, to specific transactions within an application, to specific functions (read, add, change, delete, et cetera) within a transaction, unauthorized use of a specific terminal or client computer, et cetera. However, many applications need security based on specific data values. Even when an authorized end-user at the correct client computer uses an allowed function in an allowed transaction, you may want to prevent that end-user from accessing certain data. For example, you may let a manager access information for his staff (employees in his department), but not for someone else's staff (employees not in his department). SecurityByValue lets you define exactly the information each of your end-users may access. Speaking simply, you define SecurityByValue by enumerating field values that, when present or not present, determine end-user access to transaction instances containing those values.
TimeRelation	TimeRelation is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that tracks date and time for each database change. Actual TimeRelation records when data was in your database (what did the database say about Joe's dependents on August 12, 1999 at 3:17 p.m.?). Valid TimeRelation records when data was valid (what drivers did that policy insure on the date of the accident?). Event TimeRelation uses event dates to connect data in different tables (renew this insurance policy using rates that were in effect when we first wrote the policy, not today's rates).
WebField	WebField is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that lets applications developers display a web page in a TenFold transaction field like an embedded web browser.
WebLaunch	WebLaunch is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that lets you define a hyperlink (in a web page, document, e-mail, et cetera) that opens a BrowserClient transaction, automatically signs on the end-user, and queries specific data.
WordReports	WordReports is an EnterpriseTenFold SOA power feature that lets you design and produce powerful Microsoft Word-based reports and customize their look and feel using a familiar and flexible tool, Microsoft Word.
